Lucille Atwood Stripling

STRIPLING, LUCILLE ATWOOD Mrs. Lucille Atwood Stripling of Lake Shore Village in Waco died Friday, October 4, 2002. Services will be held at 11:30AM, Tuesday, October 8 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Bosque Chapel, 6101 Bosque Blvd. with Dr. Paul Stripling and Rev. David Shuttlesworth officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 6:00-8:00PM Monday at the funeral home. Mrs. Stripling was born in Carterville, Illinois July 28, 1909 to Dr. and Mrs. Julian Atwood. She studied organ and piano at Hardin Simmons University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Mrs. Stripling was a devoted mother and wife and well known for her musical abilities and ever-present smile. She ministered alongside her husband, Dr. Ben R. Stripling, a pastor, for over 60 years in churches in Texas and Illinois and as missionaries in Taiwan and the Philippines. Mrs. Stripling was a member of Colonial Hills Baptist Church in Tyler. Dr. Stripling, her husband of 66 years preceded Mrs. Stripling in death. She is survived by son, Dr. Paul Stripling, Executive Director of Waco Baptist Association, and his wife, Roberta of Waco; daughter, Mrs. Carolyn Margraves and husband Jack of Charlotte, North Carolina; sister, Marjorie Jones and husband Steve of Allen, Texas; granddaughters, Mary Stripling of Houston, and Paula Stripling Voyles and husband Kyle and their twin sons, Tucker and Tyler Voyles, of Denton; grandsons, Kevin Margraves and wife Candice, Kent Margraves and wife Tisha and their twin daughters, Chloe and Gracie, all of Charlotte, North Carolina. Pallbearers will be Steve Jones, Kyle Voyles, Kent Margraves and Kevin Margraves. Memorials may be made to Dr. Ben R.
