Lucille C. Harrison

February 12, 1927 — August 17, 2002

Lucy Harrison, 75, of Waco, died Saturday in a local hospital. Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 19, 2002 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel, 6101 Bosque Blvd. with Minister Jim Martin officiating. Graveside service will be at Waco Memorial Park. Lucille C. Harrison was born on Feb. 12, 1927 to Claude George and Vivian Taylor Covey in Stamford, Haskell County, Texas. Lucille grew up in Haskell where she graduated from Haskell High School in 1945. Lucille worked in the office of the Haskell County Clerk after graduation. She married Stephen E. Harrison of Munday, Texas on Dec. 23, 1948. Lucy and Steve lived the adventure of military life, as Steve became a fighter pilot in the United States Air Force. Lucy made a wonderful home for their family during their tours of duty in France, California, Alabama, South Carolina, Virginia and Texas. She maintained their home in Waco during his service in Vietnam and The Pentagon. Steve and Lucy retired from the Air Force in 1970. They maintained their home in Waco and operated cattle ranches in Bosque County. Lucy owned and operated a beauty shop in Woodway from 1966 through 1969. Generations of high school students knew and loved her as she worked as a teacher's aide and in the principal's office at Midway High School for 17 years. Her warm smile brightened the day for everyone around her and her sweet spirit is a legacy for her family. Lucy was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Survivors include a daughter, Sherrie Harrison; daughter and son-in-law, Patty and Lark Smith and son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Candace Harrison, all of Woodway; grandchildren, Cody Smith, Zach Smith, Amanda McDonald, Mike McDonald, Beth Harrison, Bryan Harrison and his fiancé, Mimi McKellar; sister and brother- in-law, Marjorie and Ray Medley of Abilene; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ken and Joann Harrison of Houston; sister- in-law, Pinky Burt of Waco. Pallbearers are Neil Payne, Paul Comer, Austin Sterling, Lou Patton, David Hinton, Billy Davis, Jr., David Cherry and Maurice Campbell. Lucille knew the Lord as her Saviour and was a faithful member of Crestview Church of Christ.
