Lynett Baker Richards September 1, 1918 – July 5, 2006 Lynett Baker Richards, 87, of Lorena, passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2006. A lifelong Waco resident, Lynett graduated from Waco High School in 1936 and married Patrick Mallory Richards on June 25, 1938. After retirement in 1989, Lynett moved to Lorena and worked in the cafeteria at Lorena High School until 1994. Lynett is preceded in death by her husband, Pat Richards and her son, Doyle Richards. She is survived by two sons, Douglas Richards and wife Maureen and Calvin Richards and wife Pam; one daughter, Patricia Dorris and husband Bill; three brothers, Melvin Baker and wife Betty, of Marlin, William Baker and wife Dorothy, of Gatesville, and Ben Baker and wife Mildred, of Waco; two sisters, Jean Keith, of Florida, and Florence Queen, of New Mexico; ten grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Lynett was an avid gardener and enjoyed nothing more than planting and harvesting vegetables and sharing them with family and friends. Her grandchildren swear she grew the sweetest corn and the juiciest tomatoes in McLennan County. Lynett was devoted to her faith, was active in the Baptist community since she was very young, and had been an active parishioner at Lorena Baptist Church since 1989. Never one to be idle, Lynett volunteered many hours throughout her life to community service, mostly to help Senior Citizens older and less able-bodied than herself. She was a devoted volunteer at the Lorena Meals on Wheels program and never failed to share what little she had with others. She will be missed by her family and a multitude of loving friends.
