Dunson Lottie Humphries Dunson. She was educated in the Waco public school system where her friends gave her the nickname "Margie". She graduated from Waco High School as valedictorian of the mid-year class of 1938. She attended Baylor University, earning a B.A. in 1942. In 1943, she married Ensign Peeler Williams, Jr., who was serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II. They spent some time living in Cambridge, Massachusetts until he was ordered to the Pacific Theater of War. After the war ended, they returned to the Boston area and lived in the suburb of Brookline while he studied at Harvard University and received his master's degree in law. They then returned to Waco where they lived the rest of their lives. Margie and Peeler loved Waco and truly believed in supporting their community in all the endeavors to make it a thriving, beautiful and worthwhile place to call home. While he worked hard in his services to the city and state, Margie did, also. She was a member and board officer of the Waco Junior League, served on the board of St. Alban's School and was involved in many activities of St. Alban's Church, was on the founding board of the Waco Cotton Palace Pageant, and served in the PTA, Campfire Girls, and Boy Scouts advisory committees. Margie was President of the Waco Symphony Women's Council and was Secretary/Treasurer for the State of Texas Woman's Association of Symphony Orchestras. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority, the Woman's Club, and the Baylor Round Table. Margie and Peeler were among the first members of Ridgewood Country Club and they also enjoyed sharing the hospitality of their home. They especially enjoyed welcoming their out-of-town friends into their home at Baylor Homecoming and Cotton Palace functions. Margie's family and children were her greatest interest, and she and Peeler had many wonderful travels throughout the world with their children and friends. For over fifty years, she loved being with her friends in the weekly Mah Jongg group and monthly Supper Club. She also was a talented oil painter and studied for several years with Walter McCown of Waco. Margie was preceded in death by her parents and stepfather Newman T. Wallace, her son Peeler Williams III, and her loving and beloved husband, Peeler Williams, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Carol Williams Turner and husband David of Ft. Worth; her sons; Brooks Williams and Shapley Ross Williams and wife, Leann of Waco; four granddaughters, Amanda Williams Prater and husband, Joe, of Pflugerville; Katherine Williams Nunley and husband, Nick, of Dallas; Caroline Williams; and Summer Tappmeyer. She is also survived by two great-granddaughters; Haley Snider and Ashlyn Prater; daughter-in-law Pam Bailey Williams of Waco; two nieces, Elizabeth Estes Taylor of Lorena and Rosalis McNamara Estes of San Juan Capistrano, California; her great-nieces and great-nephew; many cousins and also many loving friends. The family would like to express our special thanks and gratitude to Judy and Steve Buddy Kaska for their many years of loving help and kindness to our mother and father.
