Martha Frances Harris January 7, 1922 – April 15, 2007 Martha Frances Mrs. Robert C. Harris, formerly of Waco, passed away Sunday, April 15, 2007, in Greensboro, N.C., after a brief illness. Services will be held on Friday, May 11th at 9:30 a.m. at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ron Durham officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 10, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Mrs. Harris was born on January 7, 1922, in Jackson, Mississippi, where she was reared and attended school. She graduated from Central High School in 1939. She attended Millsaps College in Jackson, MS where she was a member of Chi Omega. She graduated from Belhaven College, Jackson, MS, in 1943 with a Business and English degree. She worked as Church Secretary at the First Baptist Church in San Marcos, Texas where she met and married Robert Charles Harris on December 24, 1946. They moved to Waco in 1949. She was a long-time member of Columbus Avenue Baptist Church. In November 2002, she moved to Greensboro, N.C. to be close to her daughter and family. Her husband, Robert Bob C. Harris passed away October 2, 1998. Survivors include a daughter, Frances Ann Whitman and her husband, Stan, of Greensboro, N.C.; two grandsons, Robert Whitman of McKinney, Texas and Taylor Whitman of Charlotte, N.C; a niece, Mariann Hicks and family of Fort Worth; and a nephew, Charles Wilson and family of Fort Worth.
