Mary Catherine Celeste Field

FIELD, CELESTE Mary Catherine Celeste Moncus Field, age 93 died Tuesday, April 6, 2004. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am Wednesday, April 14 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Rev. Angelo Bertini officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, with a reception to follow at St. Mary’s Parish Hall. Rosary will be recited at 7pm Tuesday, April 13 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with visitation to follow. Celeste was born January 26, 1911 in Waco. She married Eugene William Field January 29, 1937. They were married at 6:30am and both left to complete a full day at their jobs. They enjoyed 58 years of marriage. Eugene preceded her in death in June 1995. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Clara Josephine Muhl and Gidian Bell Moncus, and eight brothers and sisters. She graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in 1930 and Providence Nursing School in 1934. She worked at Providence Hospital in surgery intensive care and in private duty for many years. Celeste continued to own and manage rental property up until her death. Survivors include daughter, Patricia Field Pack and husband, Spencer; sons, Quienten M. Field and wife, Hannelore, William J. Field and wife, Patty; stepson, Eugene Westbrook Field; sister, Mrs. John R. Rita McNamara; 13 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be William Field, Jr., Wesley Field, Paul Field, Tommy Field, Daniel Field, Edward Gutierrez, Sam Martinez, and Patrick McNamara. Special thanks to her caregivers Matilda Castro, Maria Arvizu, and Virginia Ramirez. Memorials may be made to Hillcrest Hospice.
