February 23, 1921 — August 21, 2005

Williams, Mary Edith Mary Edith Williams, of Waco, passed away Sunday, August 21, 2005 at a local hospital. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Wednesday, August 24 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waco with Rev. Angelo Bertini officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial North. Rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM Tuesday, August 23 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey, 6101 Bosque. Mary was born February 23, 1921 To John and Kathleen Cunningham in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Mary graduated from Carney Hospital’s School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse in 1942. After joining the Army, Mary served in England on D-Day in 1944. While hospitalized at Fitzsimmons Army Medical Center in Denver, CO, Mary reunited and subsequently married Leonard Earl Williams on May 23, 1945. Both were medically retired from the Army and settled in Waco. She was a den mother for the Cub Scouts and a room mother at St. Mary’s Catholic School. She graduated on May 13, 1983 from MCC with an Associate’s degree. Mary was preceded in death by her husband Leonard in 1974, her parents and sister, Marjorie Greene. Mary is survived by her three sons, David and wife, Terry, Steve and wife, Carrie and Jim and wife, Tes; eleven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; her beloved pet, Hazel; sister-in-law, Francis Baxley of Waco; brother-in-law, Dr. Ret. Thomas Greene of Milton. Massachusetts; many nieces and nephews and too many friends to mention. A special thank you to the 4th floor nursing staff at Providence Hospital and Drs. Imes, Jernigan, Cooney, Freitag, Gardell, Perez and Eastwood for the kindness and professionalism they extended to our family during this trying time. Pallbearers will be Larry Bolfing, Chris Williams, Alex Williams, Jim Hoge, Jeremy Williams and Shawn Welch.
