Mary Louise Myers Mann August 17, 1930 - March 8, 2014 Mary Louise Mann of Waco passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 8, 2014. Visitation will be 5:007:00 p.m., Friday, March 14, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home. Graveside services will begin at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 15, at Oakwood Cemetery with Dr. Raymond G. Parker officiating. Mary Louise was born August 17, 1930, in Morganton, North Carolina, to Wake Hidalgo Myers, Sr., and Mary Louise Bender. She was a graduate in 1948 of Greenville High School, Greenville, South Carolina, and in 1952 of Winthrop College, Rock Hill, South Carolina. She worked as a buyer for Cox's Department Store in Waco. Mary Louise was a school teacher, fundraiser, an avid civic volunteer and an excellent hostess. Her volunteer interests included being a member of the Providence Auxiliary Board, serving as president in 1972; the Meals on Wheels Board of Directors, 2006-2011; Daughters of the American Revolution; the Waco Symphony; the Waco Cotton Palace Board of Directors, 1971; the Women's Study Club; and Historic Waco Foundation, where she served as president and assisted with the Fort House Tea Room Cookbook. Her hobbies included cooking, needlepointing, crocheting, bridge, golf, travel, collecting antique furniture, reading novels and perusing recipes. We looked forward to her fantastic meals and famous eggnog served annually during the Christmas season. Mary Louise has been a longtime active member of First United Methodist Church, Waco. Members of the church continue to enjoy the beautiful needlepoint cushions she helped stitch for the altar area and a few of the needlepoint stoles worn by the pastors. She was preceded in death by her parents; her grandson, Robert Aigner Hunter; her sister, Sarah Quincy Myers Cobble Carpenter; and her former husband, Robert Allen Mann. She is survived by her brother, Wake Hidalgo Myers, Jr., and wife, Mary Jane, of Greenville, South Carolina; her daughter, Mary Hyden Mann Hunter, of Waco; and her sons, David Wake Mann and wife, Jacqueline, of Waco, and Allen Barclay Mann and wife, Teitsa, of Dallas. Survivors also include grandchildren, Julia Barclay Hunter Therrell of Waco, Jennifer Katherine Mann of Waco, George Bender Hunter and wife, Arundel, of Dallas, Rebecca Joan Mann Wright and her husband, Lance, of League City, Texas, David Perry Mann, II of Denver, Colorado, Patrick Barclay Mann, Robert Stratton Mann, and Hayden Delozier Mann, all of Dallas; two step-grandchildren, Andrew Neil Eisner and Phillip Anthony Eisner, both of Dallas; and great-grandchildren, Caroline Elizabeth Therrell and Adam Blake Therrell, II, of Waco. Nieces and nephews include Robert Ray Cobble and wife, Jan, of Greenville, South Carolina, Mary Jane Cobble Downs of Rutherford, North Carolina, Phillip Eugene Cobble and wife, Faye, of Greenville, South Carolina, and Susan DePree Myers Hamilton and husband, Blanton, of Winston Salem, North Carolina; as well as many other great nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are George Bender Hunter, David Perry Mann, II, Patrick Barclay Mann, Robert Stratton Mann, Hayden Delozier Mann, Lance Wright, and Phillip Eugene Cobble. Special thanks are expressed to Cordelia "DeeDee" Eastland, Charlie Wells, Deon "Dee" Tuckerhill, Dr. Jackson Walker and the hospice staff of Bluebonnet Health Services. Mary Louise was a wonderful mother, loving grandmother and great friend. She cared deeply for every life she touched. As a lady of the South, she possessed grace and poise, a strong opinion, a fighting spirit, charm, wit, a great memory and a generous heart. Mary Louise shared good advice, told the best stories, loved always, gave her full effort in every situation, and persevered through many adversities.
