Maureen Steiner July 19, 1912 – July 2, 2006 Maureen Steiner went home to be with the Lord Sunday, July 2, 2006. Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, July 6 at Grove Hill Memorial Park and a visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. prior to the service at Grove Hill Funeral Home in Dallas. Visitation with the family in Waco will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 5 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home, 6101 Bosque. Maureen was born July 19, 1912 on a scorching summer day in Kaufman, Texas. She graduated from grammar school in Wills Point in 1926, Terrell High School in 1930 and Texas Military College, Terrell in 1932 with an Associated Arts degree. In the summer of 1936, she moved to Dallas and attended Metropolitan Business School and was employed at a music school when she met Harold Steiner in April, 1938. Maureen and Harold were married March 2, 1940 and she worked over 35 years in insurance in Dallas before retiring in 1975. She belonged to Gaston Avenue Baptist Church now Gaston Oaks since 1944 where she was a member of the Naomi Sunday School, Joy Choir and Triple L. She was also a member of the Rejebean Book Review Club and of the Volunteer Corps at Baylor University Medical Center since retiring. She later moved to Waco and attended Highland Baptist Church and was part of the Fellowship of Naomi. Maureen had written that she didn’t have a lot to say for a lifetime, except for the one accomplishment most dear and precious in her life which was the birth of a daughter, Barbara, who was truly loved by herself and Harold. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Scheffler Steiner; parents, James Edgar and Carrie Elizabeth Craig; sisters, Betty Pauline Erskine and Lydia Belle Traylor and niece, Missy Traylor. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Wood and husband Alan, and granddaughter Sherry Beth Wood, all of Woodway, Tx; nephews, James Traylor and wife, Janice of Houston, Tx; Bill Traylor and wife, Gladys of Waskom, Tx; Mike Traylor and wife, Sarah of Garland, Tx. Also surviving is Jean Linder and husband, Orbie Ray of Krum, Tx.
