Maurine Duncan Hooker, age 89 of Hillsboro, formerly of Waco, went to join her Lord Jesus Christ and her husband, Cliett, Friday, December 16, 2005. Services will be held at 3:30 PM Monday, December 19th at Waco Memorial Mausoleum Chapel with Rev. Ron Durham officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial North. Mrs. Hooker was born July 1, 1916 near Whitney, Texas to Jackson L. B. and Edna Duncan. She was raised and educated near her home. She married Cliett Alex Hooker in Hillsboro on Sept. 8, 1934. She worked as a bookkeeper, housewife and seamstress in addition to performing as a pianist at Columbus Ave. Baptist Church where she was a member. She was a self-taught musician, as were several of her other siblings. The family played on the radio in early broadcast days in Hill County. Her love of music continued when she moved to the Town Hall Estates in Hillsboro and regularly played the piano there. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Cliett Hooker on July 25, 2004 and her 5 brothers and 7 sisters. She is survived by her son, Maurice Hooker and wife Beth of Dickinson; daughter, Evelyn Behringer of Fort Worth; granddaughters, Kimberly Bynum of Houston and Tracy Hooker of Irving; great granddaughters, Kristin Craven Mimms and her husband, Steven, and Brittany Bynum, all of Houston; and brother Glynn Duncan of Hemet, California. In addition there are many loving brothers and sisters in-law and nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Columbus Ave. Baptist Church, 1300 Columbus Ave, Waco, Tx, 76701.
