Melvin H. Frase

FRASE, MELVIN H. Melvin H. Frase, age 83 of Woodway died Monday, August 11, 2003 at a Temple hospital. Graveside services will be held at 11am Thursday August 14 at Oakwood Cemetery with Rev. Howard Martin officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 6-8pm Wednesday, August 13 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey, 6101 Bosque Blvd. Mr. Frase was born January 30, 1920 near Copperas Cove in the Topsey community to Robert F. and Rosine Bredthauer Frase. He lived in the Buckhorn community near Moody until 1934. He had been a resident of the Waco area since 1938. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from December 1940 until November 1945. He married Mary Hill Darwin December 10, 1944. In January 1946, he went to work for Home Abstract and Title Company until 1958. He then became principal owner of Builders Abstract and Title Company and in 1960 he sold his interest and joined Waco Savings and Loan where he worked until his retirement in 1982. Mr. Frase was a member of Cogdell Memorial United Methodist Church in Waco where he served on the board of trustees. He was a charter member of the Heart of Texas Lions Club and was a past president of the Bellmead Lions Club. He was also a member of Rolling Oaks Country Club where he spent many hours with his friends playing golf. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Gilbert G. Frase and Ray R. Frase. Survivors include wife, Mary Frase of Woodway; sons, David Frase and wife, Jan of Fort Worth and Roger Frase of Fort Worth; granddaughters, Blair Frase Martin and husband, Will of Fort Worth and Jessica and Shelby Frase of China Spring; grandson, Samuel Frase of China Spring; great granddaughter, Ellie Martin of Fort Worth; sister, Cora Makowski of Richardson; brother, Clarence C. Frase and wife, Kathryn of Seguin and two nieces and five nephews. Memorials may be made to Cogdell Memorial United Methodist Church, Building Fund.
