Mrs. Gordon Rountree, Sr. February 3, 1917 March 16, 2013 Mrs. Gordon Rountree, Sr. Frances Combest Rountree passed away peacefully in her home Saturday, March 16, 2013. Funeral services will be at 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 20, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at her home beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, before the services. Mrs. Rountree was born February 3, 1917, to Magdelina Duperier Combest and Ross Combest of Beaumont, TX. Mrs. Rountree was married to Millard Gordon Rountree, Sr. for 63 years, before his passing in 2002. Mrs. Rountree is survived by her children, Gordon Rountree, Jr. and wife, Jo, Nannettte Rountree Wheelis and husband, David, and Collette Rountree Karr and husband, Richard. Mrs. Rountree, otherwise known as "Boots" to her family and close friends, is also survived by nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Her grandchildren are Gordon Scott Rountree and wife, Sharon, Christi Wheelis Skipper and husband, Todd, Ross Albert Rountree and wife, Jennifer, Travis Lee Neumann and wife, Kathleen, Michelle Wheelis Basden and husband, Ben, Trent Alan Neumann and wife, Jennifer, Mary Frances Karr-Ellis, Angela Collette Karr and fianc Joshua Magill, and Rachael Karr Douglas and husband, Reid. Her great-grandchildren are Olivia & Grace Rountree, Gavin Rountree, Sidney & Jacob Skipper, Lilly Grace Ellis, Jack & Jamie Faith Douglas, Piper Neumann, Harrison Neumann, and Bryce Basden. Pallbearers will be her four grandsons and three grandsons-in-law. Honorary pallbearers will be her nephews, Brand Combest, Ralph Combest, Rusty Combest, Gordon Elliott Rountree, and Woody Thames. The family would like to extend their thanks to Hillcrest Hospice and Visiting Angels for the past 5 years of loving care for their mother.
