Othell C. Buddy Golden July 27, 1924 – September 1, 2006 Buddy Golden, 82, of Waco, passed away Friday, September 1, 2006, at home surrounded by his family. Services will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, September 5 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Bosque Chapel with Dr. Randy Hughes officiating. Internment will follow at Waco Memorial Park North. Visitation with the family will be held from 6 – 8 pm, Monday, September 4 in the Garden Room at the funeral home. Buddy, the only child of Lester and Bessie Peterson Golden, was born in Mooreville, Texas on July 27, 1924. He attended Waco High School. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1942 and was assigned to the 19th Bomb Squadron, 22nd Group, 5th Air Force. Having sailed from Boston to Australia on the Queen Mary, Buddy served a total of 37 months overseas. Buddy married the love of his life, Mary Frances Glaze, on March 11, 1950. Celebrating 56 wonderful years together, they were blessed with two children, their spouses and four grandchildren. Buddy retired from the William Cameron Lumber Company/CertainTeed after 37 years of loyal service. He was a long-time member of Memorial Baptist Church until its closing; he and Mary then joined Emmanuel Baptist Church where Buddy was ordained a deacon and attended faithfully until his health worsened. He will be remembered for serving his Lord, loving his family, and always helping others. Buddy was preceded in death by his father, mother and step-father, Charles T. Davlin. He is survived by his wife, Mary of Waco; daughter, Debbie Kalbow and husband Ken of Riesel; son, Richard Golden and wife Debbie of Burkburnett; grandchildren, Kevin Kalbow, Brent and Kyndra Golden and Shannon Meschnark and husband James. Honorary pallbearers are members of the Men’s Sunday School Class at Emmanuel Baptist Church and Darnell Bush, long-time neighbor and friend. Memorials may be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church or Providence Hospice. Thanks go to all of Buddy’s Hospice care givers. Special thanks go to Tim Smith, Terri Oldham and Chaplain T. Brian Pendleton.
