Ralph Wayne Hatfield August 22, 1928 December 21, 2014 Ralph Wayne Hatfield of Caldwell, Texas will be laid to rest in a graveside memorial service, with military honors, 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 27, 2014, Waco Memorial Park, 6623 South IH-35 in Robinson, Texas. He was born August 22, 1928, in Gas City, Indiana and died December 21, 2014, in Bryan, Texas, at the age of 86. Ralph relocated, with his parents and sister, from Gas City, Indiana to Waco, Texas in the early 1940's. He was a 1946 graduate of Waco High School and a graduate of Baylor University in Waco, Texas and the Southwestern School of Banking at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. He served in the United States Air Force from August 1950 through August 1954, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. Ralph entered the banking industry after high school graduation in July 1946, starting as a teller at The First National Bank of Waco, Texas and had career stops, achieving the position of Senior Vice President, at Bellmead State Bank Bellmead, Texas; First National Bank of Lake Jackson Lake Jackson, Texas, First Freeport National Bank Freeport, Texas and Caldwell National Bank currently Prosperity Bank in Caldwell, Texas, through his retirement in 1999. His 53 year commitment to Texas community banking was interrupted only by his military service. His community service included membership in the Kiwanis and Rotary Clubs in Lake Jackson and Caldwell, Texas, as well as participation in various local religious organizations. In his leisure time, Ralph enjoyed fishing, hunting, and time with his friends and grandchildren. Ralph preceded in death by his parents, Marion M. Hatfield and Glennie L. Hatfield nee Brewer, both of Waco, Texas, an infant son, Lou Alan Hatfield, of Waco, Texas; and his brothers, Frederick Hatfield and Walter Hatfield, both of Gas City, Indiana. He is survived by his son, Scott W. Hatfield, and wife, Amy, of Dallas, Texas; his son, Jeffrey D. Hatfield, and wife, Jamie, of Palestine, Texas; his grandchildren, Bryan Hatfield, Paige Hatfield and Jacob Hatfield. He is also survived by his brother, George Hatfield, and wife, Rosa, of Austin, Texas, and sister, Marilyn Sartain, and husband, Nick, of Las Vegas, Nevada; as well as his former wife, June Hatfield, of Palestine, Texas; and many other friends and associates.
