REV. TRAVIS GIBSON Rev. Travis Gibson, 89, of Waco, went to be with the Lord he had faithfully served on Sunday, February 10, 2002 at his residence. Services will be 10:00AM, Tuesday, February 12 at Highland Baptist Church with Rev. Barry Camp and Rev. Mark Wible officiating. Burial will be at 10:00A.M. Wednesday, February 13 at Amarillo Memorial Park in Amarillo, Texas. Visitation will be 6:30-8:00PM Monday, February 11 at WILKIRSON-HATCH-BAILEY, 6101 Bosque Blvd. Travis was born November 30, 1912 in Van Alstyne, Texas. His family moved to Sherman when he was 8 years old, where he was converted and joined First Baptist Church of Sherman. At age 10, his family moved to Amarillo, where he was educated. At age 17, he rededicated his life to Christ and earnestly began his Christian pilgrimage. On January 25, 1934, he married Juanita Rigdon in Amarillo. Following the call to the ministry, they graduated from Howard Payne College in Brownwood and he graduated from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth in 1948. He served as pastor of churches in Goodnight, Fort Worth, New London and Brownwood and as administrator of the Heart of Texas Baptist Encampment until his first retirement in 1978. In January 1980, he became Minister of Visitation of Highland Baptist Church in Waco and continued this ministry until retirement in 2000 for health reasons. Survivors: his wife of 68 years, Juanita Gibson; 2 sons, Joe Travis Gibson, Jr. and David Lee Gibson; 5 grandchildren, Tonikay Osgood & husband John Osgood, Jr. of Austin, Joe Travis Gibson, III of Austin, Gregory Scott Gibson of Croton, New York, David Lee Gibson, Jr. of Waco and John Travis Gibson of Georgetown; 2 great grandchildren, Abby Louise Osgood and John Benjamin Osgood; nephew, Denny Louis Gibson of La Habra, California.
