Richard Vinson Powers December 11, 1920–October 29, 2006 Richard Vinson Powers of Lorena passed away Sunday, Oct. 29, 2006 at his residence. Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey with Bro. Gordon officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial North Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov 1, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Richard was born December 11, 1920 in Valley Mills to Mack Vinson Powers and Charity Lee Powers. He married his childhood sweetheart, Sophie Thompson on July 12, 1941. They founded and operated Powers Embroidery that is now being operated by their grandson, Jay Powers. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sophie; his sisters, Lillie Mae Hatfield and Lura Faubion; his brothers, Bill Powers, J.W. Powers, Billy James Powers and Lewis Johnny Powers. He is survived by his daughter, Shelia Reed/Ronnie Griffin of Lorena; his son, Bob Powers and wife Fredna of Kingsland; his grandchildren, Bert Buddy Reed III and wife, Jana of Lorena, Stephanie Endom and husband, Dan of Houston and Jay Powers and wife, Donna of Waco; also his great grandchildren, Mary Jane and John Endom and Morgan and Huston Powers. Pallbearers are Billy Reed Powers, Gary Hatfield, Bruce Price, Barry Atwood, Evan Klaras and Clint Shelburne. Memorials may be made to your local Hospice.
