Robert Eldon Caruthers

ROBERT CARUTHERS August 13, 1914-December 22, 2005 Robert Eldon Caruthers, 91, passed away December 22, 2005 in Sugar Land, Texas. Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 28 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial North. Visitation with the family will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, December 27 at the funeral home. He was born in Bell County, Texas on August 13, 1914 to Roy and Lora Caruthers. Robert attended Moody schools and graduated as salutatorian from Moody High School in 1932. He attended Texas A & M and graduated in 1936. Robert was a World War II veteran, serving as a Lieutenant in the U. S. Navy. He was a wonderful parent, grandfather and friend who will be dearly missed. He was a member of Central Christian Church for over 40 years. He was an avid golfer and charter member of Lake Waco Country Club He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Earnest and Lora Caruthers and his sister, Lanelle Caruthers Thistle. Robert is survived by his wife of 63 years, Margaret Stracke Caruthers; daughter, Linda Caruthers; son, Robert E. Caruthers, Jr. and wife, Cristy; three grandsons, Davis, Cole and Blake; sister, Sammye Caruthers Morrow and husband, Len of Elk Grove, CA; five nephews and two nieces.
