BRAUN, SALLIE Sallie Margaret Braun, age 81 of Waco died Wednesday, September 3, 2003 at a local hospital. Services will be held at 11:30am Saturday, September 6 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel, 1124 Washington Ave. with Rev. Drew Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Bold Springs Cemetery in West, Texas. Visitation with the family will be from 6-8pm Friday, September 5 at the funeral home. Mrs. Braun was born September 10, 1921 in West to the late Charles T. and Mollie Knox McMillan. She was a graduate of West High School and Waco Business College, after which she worked in the PX at Waco Army Airfield during WWII. She married Herman Braun June 28, 1947 in Waco. From 1946-1954 she worked at the Waco V.A. until she retired to raise her two sons. She was very involved in PTA, a longtime member of the Garden Club of Waco and Park Lake Dr. Baptist Church. Mrs. Braun was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers. Survivors include husband, Herman J. Braun of Waco; sons, Michael H. Braun and wife, Sherryl of Fort Worth and Richard J. Braun of Waco; granddaughter, Lauren Michelle Braun; brother, Lynn W. McMillan of Denver, Colorado; nieces, Helen Jackson of Sierra Vista, Arizona, Mary Carol Hartley of Clovis, New Mexico, and Mary Frances Melton of Littlefield, Texas; nephews, Thomas Beard, Laddie Earl Broadway both of Waco, Charles McMillan of Denver, Colorado, Buford Humphries of Odessa, and Arthur McMillan, Jr. of Hillsboro. Mrs. Braun’s nephews, Thomas Beard, Laddie Earl Broadway, Charles McMillan and Arthur McMillan, Jr. will serve as pallbearers.
