Susanne "Susie" Carol Nolen August 30, 1948 - January 31, 2013 Susanne Carol Nolen of Waco passed away Thursday, January 31, 2013, at her residence. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 4, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with the Rev. Wayne Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, February 3, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room. Susie was born August 30, 1948, in Yonkers, New York, to Hans and Henriette Bischofs. She was the eldest of four siblings. Her father was in the Air Force and she traveled extensively as a child, spending most of her childhood in Germany. She graduated from Cooper High School in Abilene, Texas. She received her Bachelors degree from the University of Texas at Austin. Susie's passion for bowling led her to meet her husband, Dexter, in Abilene. They were married in 1973 and moved to Dexter's home town of Waco, where Susie began league bowling and became involved in many aspects of the bowling community. She continued league bowling until shortly before her death. Susie was inducted into the Waco Women's Association Bowling Hall of Fame in 2005, which is now the Greater Waco USBC Association Hall of Fame. She worked in the insurance business most of her life and was a Medicare/Senior Care specialist at Scott and White Health Plans, where she worked for over12 years. She had her FLMI, HIAA and ACS credentials. Susie was preceded in death by her husband, Dexter Nolen; her father, Hans Bischofs; and her sister, Laura Himmelman. She is survived by her mother, Henriette Bischofs of St. Petersburg, FL; her mother-in-law, Katie Nolen of Waco; two sisters, Nancy Bischofs of Eugene, OR, and Gina Whitson and husband, Dave Whitson, of Denver, CO; one brother, Paul Bischofs and wife, Sandra, of Palm Harbor, FL; brother-in-law, Robert Himmelman; three nieces; and two nephews.
