Thekla Katie Hinz

October 15, 1912 — January 11, 2005

HINZ, THEKLA Thekla Katie Kiehn Hinz, 92, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, January 11, 2005. Services will be held at 11:30am Friday, January 14 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with the Rev. Julie Pennington-Russell and Dr. Nathan Porter of Calvary Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Mrs. Hinz was born Oct. 15, 1912 to parents Selma and Henry Kiehn in Clinton, Oklahoma. She spent her childhood days with her parents on a farm on the Washita River. They were neighbors to the Native Oklahoma Indians. Her playmate was Daisey Powderface. She received her education in Oklahoma and Kansas. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. On August 11, 1935 she married Leonard B. Hinz. He preceded her in death in April of 1999. Her parents also preceded her in death. Several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law also preceded her in death. After WWII Dad who served in the war was called into the ministry and Mom became a very faithful minister’s wife. She sang in the choir, taught Sunday school and was president of WMU. She always made the parsonage a home for us. Mom made sure new mothers in our church got a homemade butterscotch pie when they came home with their new babies. She was a wonderful seamstress and cook. She is survived by her daughters, Lavonda Hinz of Arlington, Maxine Hansen and husband, Chris Hansen, Jr. of Woodway; grandson Jeff Hansen and wife Luisa, great grandson Chris III; great granddaughter Alex of Robinson; grandson, Greg Hansen and wife, Karen, great grandson Hunter and great granddaughter Dylan of Flower Mound; brothers, Karl Kiehn and Edwin Kiehn of Cordell, Oklahoma; sisters-in-law, Elsie Hinz of Corn, Oklahoma and Helen Hinz of Reedley, California; as well as numerous cherished family member and friends.
