Theresa was born on January 20, 1924, in Waco, Texas, the second of six girls, to Josef and Mary Slovak. Theresa attended Sacred Heart Academy and graduated valedictorian in 1941. She later graduated from Four C Business College. Following her education, Theresa worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for over 30 years. It was there that she met Truett Lindsey, and the two were married February 19, 1956.
Theresa was a faithful member for almost 70 years of First Baptist Church of Waco, where she served in youth and adult Sunday School departments and was a devoted member of the Hannah Sunday School class. She and her husband were long-time members of the Baylor Bear Foundation, and they enjoyed following Baylor athletics, especially Baylor basketball for over 50 years. She was also an avid reader and loved crossword puzzles. Theresa never stopped learning and took up painting, piano and golf after her retirement.
More than anything, Theresa loved her family and spending time with them. Together, she and Truett had three children, seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren and she delighted in watching her grandchildren play sports or any other activities in which they were participating. Theresa was an affectionate mother and grandmother who guided her family by example and love.
Theresa was preceded in death by Truett, her husband of 59 years.
