TOMMIE PADGETT Tommie Padgett, 82, of Waco, died Saturday, May 25, 2002 at his home, after a long illness. Services will be held at 9:30AM Tuesday, May 28th at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Bosque Chapel, 6101 Bosque Blvd., with Rev. David Shuttlesworth and Rev. Drew Wilson officiating. Burial will follow at Bosqueville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00pm Monday, May 27 at the funeral home. Mr. Padgett was born April 2, 1920 in Waco, Texas. He was a longtime resident of Waco. After he fought in World War II for the Navy, he returned home and worked for Owens-Illinois and Rainbo Bakery. Mr. Padgett worked for Prudential Insurance for 13 years, and then began working with a number of eating establishments. Among them were Community Kitchen and the original Tom’s Sandwich Shop at 510 Austin Ave. He was a member of Park Lake Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge #1127, the Scottish Rite and Karem Shrine. He is survived by his wife, Mary Lillard Padgett, whom he celebrated 60 years of marriage with in December; daughter, Ginger Mynar of Waco; brother, Harold Padgett of Waco; five granddaughters and seven great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by a son, Tommy Burton Padgett. Pallbearers will be his nephews; Donald Lillard, Lonnie Ray Padgett, Gil Lillard, Ronnie Padgett, Joe Padgett and Ricky Crocker.
