Toran Khozein

September 24, 1920 — September 26, 2003

TORAN KHOZEIN “O FRIEND! In the garden of thy heart plant naught but the rose of love.” Baha’i Writings Toran Badiee Khozein passed away Friday, Sept. 26, 2003 at her home surrounded by her family. Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 29, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel, 6101 Bosque Blvd. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Toran, known as Maman Gigi to her family and friends, was born in Kashan, Iran on March 2, 1920. She married Ghodratullah Khozein in 1941 and raised six children. Maman Gigi and her family left Iran in 1979 because of persecution of members of the Baha’i Faith in Iran. Maman was a devoted Baha’i and a dedicated wife and mother. Her six children attended her diligently during her recent lengthy illness, although Maman Gigi remained the family matriarch, in charge until the end. Maman’s legacy is the love she created for all around her, the love that was and is the glue that binds her family and friends together. Maman Gigi, we will miss your genuine concern and sincere love for everyone you knew. We will miss your laughter, your direction, your intensity, your openness and your devotion to God and us. It will never be the same without your voice saying, “Kiss give me.” Toran is predeceased by husband Ghodratollah and brother Nematollah Badiee. Toran is survived by brothers, Nosratollah, Azizollah and Rahmatollah; sister, Molook Khorshidi; daughters, Roha Haghjoo and husband Iraj of Hewitt, Nora Javedan and husband Bahram of Quito, Ecuador; son, Nourollah Khozein and wife Sue of Santa Fe, Rouhollah Khozein and wife Cristina of Quito Ecuador, Fuad Fred Khozein and wife Brenda of Waco and Farzad Khozein and wife Rebecca of Albuquerque.
