Dorothy Virginia Monnig Carpenter April 1, 1914 - April 3, 2007 Dorothy Virginia Monnig Carpenter, age 93 of Waco, passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2007 at a local nursing home. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, April 6, 2007 at Waco Memorial Mausoleum Chapel with Dr. Steven Mansen officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m.Thursday, April 5, 2007 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey. Virginia was born April 1, 1914 in Ft. Worth, in her grandmother’s house to George and Vera Monnig. She grew up in Sepulpa, OK where she graduated from high school in 1932. Her family moved to Waco to open Monnig’s Department Store. She attended Baylor University and met her husband T.W. Carpenter at Central Christian Church. They were married May 30, 1936. Virginia was active in church and civic funtions. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one son, Dr. T.W. Carpenter, M.D. She is survived by her daughter; Carol Virginia Walker and her husband Tom, of Waco, four grandchildren; Paige Carpenter Pratt and husband Wayne, of Vicksburg, MS, Stephen Thomas Walker, of Waco, Brett Ward Carpenter and wife Tiffany of SanAngelo and Carol Ann Walker Martin and husband, Dr. Bill Martin, D.C. of Round Rock, and four great grandchildren.
