Wade Lee Dawson February 14, 1925 – November 5, 2007 Wade Lee Dawson of Waco passed away Monday, November 5, 2007 at St. Catherine's Center. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, November 8, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with the Rev. Jim Gray and Chaplain Suzanne Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6 - 8 pm Wednesday, November 7, at Wilkirson Hatch Bailey Garden Room. Wade was born in Waco, Texas, on February 14, 1925, to Aimee Lee Grubbs and Wade H. Dawson. He graduated from Bruceville-Eddy High School. On September 18, 1945, he married Lillian Estelle Hughes. They celebrated over 59 years of marriage together prior to her death in 2005. Wade retired in March of 1987, from Rainbo Baking Company where he worked for over 40 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian; his parents; a sister, Jennifer Hall; and recently, his brother, John. Survivors include daughters, Annette Bell and husband, James, of Hewitt; Donna Callaway and husband, Gary, of Georgetown; Cheryl Turner and husband, Mike, of Hewitt; and Gina Childers and husband, Mike, of Waco; sons, Larry Dawson and wife, Carol, of Hallsburg; and Danny Dawson and wife, Vicki, of Lorena; 17 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; sisters, Willie Morris and husband, Bill, of San Antonio; Carol Johnson and husband, Bob, of Hewitt; and many nieces and nephews. Wade enjoyed all of his family get-togethers, especially playing games. He loved his shop for his crafts. He loved to play “42” and played regularly where he lived at Lakeshore Estates. He also loved playing dominoes weekly with his brother-in-law, Reggie. He always had time for a game of Scrabble and will be missed greatly by his Scrabble partner and daughter, Cheryl. Pallbearers are the grandsons. The family would like to thank Dr. Sudan and Providence Hospice for their loving care and support. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Providence Hospice.
