William George Owen June 2, 1917 - February 9, 2009 William "Bill" George Owen of Waco went to be with Jesus on Monday, February 9, 2009 at Westview Manor. Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 13, at Rosemound Cemetery with Pastor Walter Albers officiating. Visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m. Thursday, February 12, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room. Bill was born June 2, 1917 in Waco, TX to Anthony and Rushie Owen. He served in the U.S. Army. During WWII in Eastern Europe he was captured in the Battle of the Bulge and received the Purple Heart. He retired from the VA Regional Medical Center after over 30 years of service. He loved fishing, gardening and traveling with Doris prior to her death. Bill was a longtime Methodist. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Doris Owen; and three sisters. He is survived by sons, Gene Owen and wife, Kay; and Randall Owen; step-daughter, Bonnie Davis; step-sons, Ricky Donaldson and wife, Vickie and Danny Donaldson; one sister, Gertrude Bradford; 17 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; and relatives and friends. The family wishes to thank Sterling House and their staff who dearly enjoyed him as a resident; also special thanks to Westview Manor for their excellent care.
