Winona was born December 24, 1918, in Valley Mills, Texas, to Millard and Viola Leonard Sadler. When she was 6 years old, her mother died and she and her siblings went to live with the Sadler grandparents. Four years later, she was blessed with a loving step mother, Clara, and many half-brothers and sisters. Every year she loved attending the Sadler reunions that were held in the Cayote area. Her family loved fishing and in retirement she enjoyed spending time at her lake house on Lake Whitney. She was the director and taught pre-school and kindergarten at Brookview Methodist Church which later became Cogdell Memorial United Methodist, where she was a faithful member. Years later, she continued sharing her love for children as a teacher's aide at Providence Heights Elementary. When she wasn’t fishing, she enjoyed watching sports and loved to cheer for the Lady Bears. Winona loved her church and family get togethers at her home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Wenzel. She is survived by her sons, Gene Wenzel and wife, Kay and Don Wenzel and wife, Carol; grandsons, Steve Wenzel and wife, Melissa, Brian Wenzel and wife, Shanie; granddaughters, Carrie Barlow and husband, Jason, Julie Self and husband, Nathan, Shellie Monk and husband, Trent. She is also survived by ten great grandchildren and one more on the way in a few weeks. The Family would like to especially thank the Dickey family for all the meals, company, shopping and moral support they unselfishly gave to Nana. She could have never lived at home alone without all their love and help. Pallbearers are Steve Wenzel, Brian Wenzel, Nathan Self, Collin Wenzel, Caleb Self and Dale Dickey. Memorials may be made to Cogdell Memorial United Methodist Church or a charity of your choice. The family invites you to leave a message or memory in our “Memorial Guestbook” at www.WHBfamily.com.
