Angel Tovar Mendez, 63, passed away on Sept. 3, 2026.

The funeral service will be held at 9:00 a.m. Friday, September 11, 2026, in the Chapel at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. The Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, September 10, 2026, at the funeral home, with visitation following from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Born Oct. 1, 1962, in Cardenas, San Luis Potosí, Mexico, Angel was the only son of Luisa Mendez and Felix Tovar. At the age of 12, he immigrated to the United States but frequently returned to his homeland to visit family.

While living in Mexico, he met his future wife, Beatriz Infante, and they married on Dec. 21, 1986. Together, they raised four children: Juan Tovar, Luisa Tovar, Alma Leticia Tovar and Alma Araceli Tovar.

Angel, affectionately known as “Lechuga,” was known for his infectious smile and kind heart. He made friends easily wherever he went. His greatest pride and joy were his children and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Felix Tovar and Luisa Mendez.

Angel is survived by his wife, Beatriz Infante; son, Juan Tovar, and his wife, Araseli Tovar; daughters, Luisa Olvera and her husband, Luis Olvera; Alma Rodriguez and her fiancé, Jose Hernandez; and Alma Galvan and her husband, Luis Galvan.

He is also survived by his grandchildren: Brianna Tovar-Chavez, Angel Rodriguez, Alexander Lizana Jr., Jacob Tovar, Adriel Galvan, Luis Olvera Jr., Lysette Galvan and Noel Galvan.

Pallbearers will be Juan Tovar, Alexander Lizana Jr., Angel Rodriguez, Luis Olvera, Luis Galvan and Jose Hernandez.

Nació el 1 de octubre de 1962 en Cardenas, San Luis Potosí, México. Angel era el único hijo de Luisa Mendez y Felix Tovar. A los 12 años, emigró a los Estados Unidos, pero regresaba con frecuencia a su tierra natal para visitar a su familia.

Mientras vivía en México, conoció a su futura esposa, Beatriz Infante, y se casaron el 21 de diciembre de 1986. Juntos formaron una familia y criaron a cuatro hijos: Juan Tovar, Luisa Tovar, Alma Leticia Tovar y Alma Araceli Tovar.

Angel, conocido cariñosamente como “Lechuga,” era conocido por muchos por su sonrisa contagiosa y su buen corazón. Hacía amigos fácilmente dondequiera que iba. Su mayor orgullo y alegría eran sus hijos y nietos.

Le precedieron en la muerte sus padres, Felix Tovar y Luisa Mendez.

Le sobreviven su esposa, Beatriz Infante; su hijo, Juan Tovar, y su esposa, Araseli Tovar; sus hijas, Luisa Olvera y su esposo, Luis Olvera; Alma Rodriguez y su prometido, Jose Hernandez; y Alma Galvan y su esposo, Luis Galvan.

También le sobreviven sus nietos: Brianna Tovar-Chavez, Angel Rodriguez, Alexander Lizana Jr., Jacob Tovar, Adriel Galvan, Luis Olvera Jr., Lysette Galvan y Noel Galvan.
