MACRAE, BETTE SANDS Bette Sands MacRae passed away on Monday, January 27, 2003 at the age of 82. A memorial service will be held at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church at 10am Wednesday, January 29. Arrangements are through Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey, 6101 Bosque Blvd. Born in Ohio and a graduate of Ohio State University, Bette taught school early in her career. She made Waco her home for the past forty-nine years where she was active in local politics being the first woman to be elected a board member of the Waco Independent School District. She later served as its president. Bette was also active in Republican politics, at one time serving as a Reagan delegate at the Republican National Convention. She was a member of St. Alban’s Episcopal Church where she was a member of the altar guild. She leaves behind her husband of 61 years, Malcolm; daughters, Sharon and Drucie of San Antonio; son, Leslie and wife, Linda of Carlisle, Pennsylvania; grandsons, Matthew and Travis, nieces, Pat and Courtney and nephews, Jay, Raymond and Patrick.
