Betty Ann Hinton

Betty Ann Hinton, 90 of Waco passed away, Wednesday, January 14, 2026. Private family services will be held at a later date. Betty will be laid to rest next to her loving husband, Joe Bob Hinton.

Betty was born January 7, 1936, in Falls County to the late Robert and Genevieve Goelzer. Growing up in Falls County, she attended Chilton ISD where she proudly played on the all-star basketball team and graduated from Chilton High School in 1953, valedictorian of her class and homecoming queen. Betty met her future husband in kindergarten on the playground; he went on to be the star quarterback, and they married in November of 1953. Their union marked the beginning of a lifelong adventure that took them across the globe. Driven by Joe Bob’s executive career with Mobil Oil Corporation, they had homes in a number of cities, including Dallas, Fort Worth, Baton Rouge, New York, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Chicago, Washington D.C., and London, England. While Joe Bob navigated the corporate world, Betty was the heart of home. She devoted herself to raising their two daughters, Gail and Joanne. Betty was known for her wisdom, wit, and love of the English language.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Genevieve Goelzer; and her loving devoted husband of over 63 years, Joe Bob Hinton.

Betty is survived by her daughters, Gail Hinton and her son, Thomas Christian, PhD and his wife, Teresa Christian; Joanne Hinton Morton and her children, Will Kamp and his wife, Sara Kamp, Joseph Morton and his wife, Abi Morton.
