Betty Lynn Mauritzen (Patterson), beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on October 22, 2026, surrounded by her husband and children as she peacefully passed into the arms of Jesus.

The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 28, 2026, in the Chapel at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home, with interment to follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey.

Betty was born on September 16, 1952, in Waco, Texas, to Earl and Virginia Patterson (Geist). Throughout her life, Betty was known for her loving and caring heart, her encouraging words, and her unwavering support for the people she loved. She had a special way of making others feel valued and cared for, always offering kindness, reassurance, and a gentle smile. Her love for her family was at the center of her life, and her legacy of faith, compassion, and encouragement will continue through the generations she leaves behind.

Betty was a devoted member of First Baptist Church Woodway for 32 years, where her faith was an important part of her life. She especially enjoyed singing in the church choir, sharing her love of music and worship with her church family. She was also an avid Baylor Women’s Basketball fan and delighted in cheering on the Lady Bears.

Betty is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Mike Mauritzen; her daughter, Angie Werley, and son-in-law, Andrew Werley; and her grandchildren, Austin, Audrey, Ainsley, and Alyssa. She is also survived by her son, Cory Mauritzen, and daughter-in-law, Kristin Mauritzen, and her grandchildren, Levi and Addi; and her daughter, Suzanne Mauritzen. She is further survived by her brother, John Patterson, and sister-in-law, Martina Patterson, along with her beloved nieces and nephews, as well as her brothers-in-law and their families.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Virginia Patterson; her infant son, Brian Jeffrey Mauritzen; and her brother, James Patterson.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Wesley Woods for the care, kindness, and support they provided Betty over the last several years. Their dedication and compassion meant so much to Betty and her family throughout her time there, and her family is deeply thankful for the care they provided.

Betty will be remembered for her loving spirit, caring nature, encouraging heart, and steadfast support of those around her. Her faith in Jesus Christ brought meaning and hope to her life, and her family finds comfort in knowing that she is now at peace in His presence. Though she will be deeply missed, the love she shared, the faith she lived, and the memories she created will remain forever in the hearts of her family and all who knew her.

“When Christ shall come with shout of acclamation And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart Then I shall bow with humble adoration And then proclaim, ‘My God, how great Thou art!’”
