Carol Joan (Westerfeld) Cox

Carol Joan (Westerfeld) Cox, of McGregor, passed away early Friday morning, May 16, 2025, at the age of 83. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 P.M. Wednesday, May 21, 2025, in the Chapel of Wilkirson -Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home, 6101 Bosque Blvd., Waco, Texas 76710. The funeral service will immediately follow with Chaplain Berry Miller officiating. Interment will follow the service in McGregor Cemetery.

Carol was born November 26, 1941, in Waco, Texas, the daughter of Charlie Samuel and Myrtle (Haferkamp) Westerfeld. She began her education in the McGregor Independent School District where she graduated from McGregor High School in 1960. During high school, she was a member of the Bulldog Band and served four years as a twirler. Carol was baptized at Canaan Baptist Church in the Prairie Chapel Community of Osage, Texas.

On April 15, 1961, she married Jack Winston Cox who preceded her in death May 7, 1990. This union was blessed with two daughters, Jackie and Tatia. Prior to her retirement in 2015, she was employed for forty-five years with financial institutions.

Also preceding her in death were her parents and one sister, Debbie Lou Westerfeld.

Survivors include two daughters; Jackie Vidrine and husband James, and Tatia Firestone and husband Gary; a granddaughter, Brittany Fontana and husband Hank; two great grandchildren, Luca and Leti Fontana.

Carol shared her love of animals with two dogs, Missy and Macy as well as two cats, Misty and Kitty Cox.
