Carol Ann Jortner

Carol Ann Jortner, 86, of Waco, passed away Friday, February 27, 2026, in Waco.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, at Rodef Sholom Cemetery in Waco.

Carol was born November 17, 1939, in New York City to John Effinger and Winifred Lee Effinger. She later graduated with a B.A. from Hillins College. She was an educator during her working career.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Bernard Jortner.

Carol is survived by her daughter, Susan Deely of Georgetown; her sons, David Jortner of Hewitt and Adam Jortner of Wolfville, Nova Scotia; and seven grandchildren.
