Christine Ann (Picha) Fitzpatrick, joined her heavenly family on September 13, 2025, at the age of 94.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home in Waco, Texas. At the request of the family, a graveside service only will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 17, at Chapel Hill Memorial Park, 7671 I-35, Robinson, TX 76706, with Mr. Brandon Cope officiating. Pallbearers will be Daniel Fitzpatrick, David Fitzpatrick, Dean Fitzpatrick, Dennis Fitzpatrick, Justin Picha, and Brian Rodgers.
Christine was born on February 4, 1931, in Mart, TX, to August and Agnes Picha. She grew up in the Riesel/Mart area and graduated from Riesel High School. In 1952, she met the love of her life, Curtis Fitzpatrick, and they were married on April 15, 1953. During their marriage, they were blessed with four sons: Roger, Dennis, David, and Dean. Christine worked as a seamstress while Curt worked at General Tire & Rubber Co. Later, they formed their family business, Fitzpatrick & Sons Meat Market, in Robinson, TX. They retired in 1990, with sons Roger and Dean continuing to operate the business for several years. Christine and Curt enjoyed retirement traveling throughout the U.S. in their motorhome, visiting relatives and making new friends along the way.
Christine was preceded in death by her husband, Curt; her son, David Glenn; her brother, Louis “Buddy” Picha; her sister, Beatrice Picha; and her parents, August and Agnes Picha.
She is survived by her brother, Gerald Picha, and wife, Melissa; sons Roger and wife, Jeanie, of Riesel, TX; Dennis and spouse, Don, of Clinton, OH; and Dean and wife, Judy, of Riesel, TX. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren: Lindsey Rodgers and husband, Brian, of Riesel, TX; Andrea Praesel and husband, Justin, of Sanger, TX; David Fitzpatrick and wife, Susan, of Peyton, CO; Daniel Fitzpatrick and spouse, Josh, of Virginia; and Krista Kaloides and husband, Chad, of Anchorage, AK. Great-grandchildren include Ella Rodgers of Riesel, TX; Kelley and Kinley Praesel of Sanger, TX; Eve, Annabelle, and Seraphina Fitzpatrick of Peyton, CO; Alayna Davila of San Antonio, TX; and Sutton and Declan Kaloides of Anchorage, AK.
Christine was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church of Riesel. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, earning the cherished title of “Granny Fitz,” which was affectionately used by all who knew her. She was an accomplished seamstress, always willing to share her expertise. Throughout the years, Christine and Curt opened their home to countless relatives and friends, welcoming all with delicious food, clean sheets, and warm fellowship. She was also a wonderful cook, with her famous Banana Pudding being the most requested dessert at every church potluck.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to Wesley Woods Rehabilitation and Healthcare and Hewitt Nursing and Rehabilitation for the loving care and support provided during Christine’s final years.
