Patricia Elaine Jacobs passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 14, 2024, with her husband standing beside her and holding her hand as she drew her last breath.
Elaine will be laid to rest at a graveside service, 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 24, 2024, in the family plot at the beautiful and historic Oakwood Cemetery in Waco, Texas, with Dr. Randall Perry officiating.
Patricia Elaine Jacobs was born October 26, 1947, to Floyd Kenneth Thigpen and Edith Ruth (Bullard) Thigpen in Clayton, New Mexico, the eldest of five girls. She graduated in Tyler, Texas in 1965 from John Tyler High School. She attended Tyler Junior College and Texas Tech University. In 1973 she worked for four independent oil operators where she started her career in the oil business. In 1975 she moved to Houston, Texas and continued her career for the next 43 years, retiring in 2018.
In the 1980’s, she was a charter member and Director of the North Houston Landmen’s Association and received the award of Landman of The Year from the association.
In 1978 Elaine married the love of her life, John B. Jacobs, and the union remained for 46 years until her death. She loved her family and especially loved keeping up the many Jacobs family holiday traditions. She delighted in cooking, baking, golfing, snow skiing, needle work and reading. Elaine also loved animals and her numerous pets she called her own over the years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd, and Edith Thigpen; by her sister, Sue Owensby; and by her step-grandson, Colin Stone.
She is survived by her loving husband, John; her brother-in-law, Stewart Owensby; sister, Ruth Schwille, and her husband, Ed; sister, Madeline Rigoni, and her husband, Rick; her stepdaughter, Jennifer Stone, and her husband, Taylor; she is also survived by her grandchildren, Emily, Sarah and Mary; and stepdaughter, Christy Crowson, and husband, Jon; as well as grandson, Charlie; and step-grandson, Jesse.
