Floyd James Jensen, Jr, 88, devoted husband and father, passed away peacefully in his home on December 30, 2023, with his beloved wife Barbara by his side.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 13, 2024, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Waco, with The Reverend Samantha R. E. Smith officiating. Inurnment will follow on-site immediately thereafter at the St. Paul’s columbarium, with reception to follow.
Floyd was born and raised in Waco. He graduated from Waco High School and then earned his bachelor’s degree in dairy science from Texas Tech University. He served honorably in the U.S. Navy and later married Barbara Dan Hudson at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church on an icy February 24, 1960. He began working at Pure Milk Company in Waco as a salesman, and eventually became president of the company. He later co-founded Allen-Jensen Incorporated, a Mack Truck dealership. He spearheaded expansion of the dealership to include a quick-lube service center, multiple car washes, and other successful business ventures. Mr. Jensen was a pillar in the Waco business community, with a well-earned reputation for diligence and integrity. He served for 48 years on the Board of Directors for Community Bank in Waco. He was a member of Rotary International since 1964 and was honored with 50-years of faithful service to that organization in 2014. He was very active with St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and served on the Vestry. He also served as president of the Heart of Texas Council of the Boy Scouts of America in Waco. In his spare time, Floyd loved to fish, and go hunting with his sons. He was also a skilled craftsman.
Mr. Jensen is preceded in death by his parents, Floyd James Jensen, Sr., and Lillian Smith Jensen; sister, Lucy Jensen Westbrook, and her husband, Thomas Westbrook; and sister-in-law Camille Hudson Easley.
He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Jensen; his sons, David Jensen and wife, Kimber, and James Jensen and wife, Denise; grandchildren Karington Johnston and her husband, Chris; Kaden Buchanan and his wife, Lexi; Kauland Buchanan and his wife, Sarah; Hudson Jensen; Sara Mercado and her husband, Will; Rachel Bush and her husband, Bo; Luke Jensen; great-grandchildren Juniper Buchanan, Milly Buchanan, Charlie Mercado, Johnny Bush, Aurora Mercado, Natalie Bush, Jason Bush; and many nieces, nephews, and friends who loved him dearly.
