Gladys Glass Willcox September 25, 1921 – March 21, 2016 Gladys Glass Willcox, 94, passed away peacefully March 21, 2016, at a local hospital. Graveside service will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 26, at Waco Memorial Park with Dr. Randall Perry officiating. The family will receive visitors from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, March 25, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home. Gladys was born in Waco, Texas, to W. O. Glass and Mae “Molly” Evans and to four spoiling siblings. From being a Cotton Palace princess to a photographer’s model and then thrust into the busy and responsible life a USAF officer’s wife upon marrying Grover C. Willcox on April 16, 1942. They made their homes across the states, as well as, overseas for 26 years. Gathering life-long friendships with her welcoming and compassionate manner, while making each station a loving home and adventure. Sharing in life’s adventure were a son, Grover C. Willcox III and daughter, Betsy Adele Willcox Owen. Preceding her in death were her parents, siblings, beloved husband, son, and son-in-law, Joe A. Owen; she no doubt had a joyous reunion in heaven! She is survived by her daughter, daughter-in-law, Katharine Willcox Elliott, loving grandchildren, Sarah Willcox Anderegg, Morgan Willcox, Jason Owen, Amy Owen Mitchell; and four wonderful great-grandchildren. The family will now be sustained by the numerous loving memories of this grand lady! “Cooking, cleaning and whatever if asked, Mom always accomplished every task.
