James Larry Wray

Jimmy Wray, 84, of Cleburne, entered the gates of Heaven, with a new healthy body and dancing on the streets of gold. We are rejoicing that he is Home and welcomed into the arms of his Savior, Jesus Christ. While there will be a hole in our hearts, this side of Heaven, our tears are happy ones for him.

Visitation will be held 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., Monday, July 20, 2026, at the Calvary Baptist Church, 700 Woodard Ave., in Cleburne. The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at the Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Payne and Rev. Todd Ledbetter officiating. Burial will follow at Rosehill Cemetery in Cleburne.

Jimmy was born February 2, 1942, in Cleburne to Robert Samuel Wray and Myrtle Ruth Watson Wray. He was a long-time and well-known Funeral Director in Cleburne, having been recently awarded his 60th year pin of service to the families of Johnson County.

Jimmy was very active in the community, but his love in life was serving his Lord and Savior through the Ministry of funeral service.

He was preceded in death by his beloved sister, June Wray Rogers (2012)

Jimmy is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Carol Puckett Wray; his son, Scott Wray and wife, Maria; his niece, Sammie Sheppard, whom he loved as a daughter and her husband, Fred; two grandchildren, Alex Wray and Hailey Wray; great-nephew, Ben Sheppard and wife, Haley; two great-nieces, Kaity Hitt and husband, Charles, and Hanah Gibson and husband, Colten; and twin great great-niece and nephew, Madelyn Lorraine Hitt and his name sake, James Parker Hitt.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Watson, Mark Echoles, Rick Ripley, Ben Sheppard, Darrell Lackey, Charles Hitt and Colten Gibson. Honorary pallbearers will be Doug Shouse, Don Finn, Clyde Cabler and James Murray.
