Jerry Lynn Ballard

Jerry Lynn Ballard, age 82, passed away Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at Providence Hospital in Waco.

The funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home, with Minister Corbin Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home.

Born in Mexia, Texas, on August 23, 1943, Jerry grew up in Mexia and attended Mexia High School. He also attended Sam Houston State University, earning a Bachelor of Business degree. Jerry married Lynda Wormsbaker on August 27, 1966. Over his lifetime, Jerry owned various businesses, most notably Waco Discount Carpet Co., Inc. and Overhead Door Supply, Inc. Jerry loved to cook, attend his grandchildren’s sporting events, play golf, fish, hunt, and study the Bible. He was an active member of the Waco Optimist Club and the Boys & Girls Club.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Lynda Diane Ballard; his daughter, Jennifer Hollingsworth and husband, Eric; his son, Michael Ballard and wife, Christi; his daughter, Stephanie Hillis and husband, Bill; his granddaughter, Emily Smith and husband, Corbin; his granddaughter, Madelyn George and husband, Blake; his grandson, Eric Hollingsworth II; his grandson, Joshua Hillis; his grandson, Jacob Hillis; his granddaughter, Bethany Hollingsworth; and his granddaughter, Lauren Hillis.

Pallbearers will be Michael Ballard, Eric Hollingsworth II, Joshua Hillis, Jacob Hillis, Blake George, Corbin Smith, Eric Hollingsworth, and Bill Hillis.
