John Charles Mott, 54, passed away on September 16th, 2025, at a charity event in Marble Falls, Texas.
Visitation will be held on September 25, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home in Waco, Texas. The funeral will be held September 26, at 1:00 p.m. at First Methodist Church of Waco with Pastor Brad Holcomb officiating. The family encourages you to wear your best western wear or something that reminds you of John. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park directly after the service.
John Charles Mott was born and raised in Waco. He attended Midway High School and Baylor University. He was a successful entrepreneur and enjoyed ranching, hunting, fishing, and golfing. He loved being daddy to his children and Big Pop to his grandchildren. Most of all, he loved providing for his family and friends. He loved the Lord and sought any way possible to give back to others in need through many charities and ministries across Texas. He devoted his life to service involving multiple charities including his own; Any Kid Can Hunt and Any Kid Can Fish. He never met a stranger and was the life of every party. He was an avid firework user and wonderful host to any person he ever met. He was the most generous, caring, honest, hard-working, loving person, and was so full of life.
John was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Raymond and Cozette Mott; his maternal grandparents, John and Jean Cahill; and his cousin, Ronnie Stewart.
He is survived by his parents, George Raymond Mott and Jean Cahill Mott. His daughter, Lauren Emily Gilmore and her husband, Ryan Gilmore; and grandchildren, Emersyn Gilmore and Parker Gilmore. His son, Mason Charles Mott and his wife, Rachel Mott. His daughter, Sofia Alexandra Mott. His brothers, Kenneth Mott and Brett Mott. His sister, Kristi Mott and his niece, Jasmine Mott and nephew, Gaige Mott.
Pallbearers will be Kenneth Mott, Brett Mott, Mason Mott, Gaige Mott, Ryan Gilmore, Eric Ochoa, Rob Fisk, and Jimmy Harding.

John was passionate about several charitable organizations including Catch a Dream Foundation, Texas Youth Hunting Program, Waco Good Fellas, Bowen Family Foundation, Buzz Fast Pitch, Whiskey for Wishes, and Kickin for a Kure.
