Kathy Ann Rolan

July 16, 1954 — November 12, 2025

Kathy Ann Goodwin Rolan passed away Wednesday, November 12, 2025. A funeral service will be Saturday, November 22, at 1:00 p.m. at Waco Memorial Mausoleum.

Kathy was born July 16, 1954, in Waco, Texas to Thomas E. Goodwin and Agnes Simpson Goodwin. After graduating from Waco’s Richfield High School in 1972, she went on to graduate from Baylor University with a BBA in 1975. She earned her Master of Education degree from University of North Texas in 1986. She taught at Lorena High School for 32 years and was an avid Lorena Leopards supporter.

Kathy began dating Edward Leo Rolan, Jr. (Eddie), a Richfield classmate, after they had graduated from high school. They married in November 1975. Kathy and Eddie were soulmates. They enjoyed going to Baylor football games and the men’s and women’s basketball games. They loved each one of their schnauzers that they had over the years.

Kathy was an active member in the Beta Pi chapter of the Alpha Delta Kappa teacher sorority. She also looked forward to meeting with her Monday friends and with the Richfield group. Kathy took many of the Baylor Lifelong Learning classes. The members of the Grief Share group from the First Woodway Baptist Church became dear friends and she looked forward to attending Good Timers events. Kathy was also a member of the Waco McLennan County Retired Teachers Association. The annual “Cousincation” trips with the Simpson girl cousins were memorable occasions in Kathy’s life.

Kathy was predeceased by her parents and her husband.

She is survived by her sisters-in-law, Cheryl Rolan Potts of Frisco, Texas, and LuAnne Rolan Jones of Sour Lake, Texas; nieces, Lacy Rushin of Frisco, Texas, and Chrissy Ackermann of Celina, Texas; nephews, Travis Jones of Lumberton, Texas, and Derek Jones of Lucas, Texas; and by many cousins and a host of friends.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Maria Solano for her loving care of Kathy during the past six months and to also thank Harbor Hospice and Right at Home for their care of Kathy in the final weeks of her life.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the McLennan Community College Foundation for the Edward Rolan, Jr. Endowed Golf Scholarship.
