Leah Faye Haggard, 76, of Waco, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 9, 2025, in Waco, Texas, surrounded by the love of her family. Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 21, 2025, at Oakwood Cemetery, with Pastor John officiating.
Born on June 19, 1949, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to James T. and Faye M. Wood. Leah lived a life full of love, resilience, and devotion to her family. She had a remarkable ability to show strength in the face of hardship, and her presence was a steady anchor for those who loved her.
Leah was strong, loyal, and stubborn in the best ways, always deeply committed to her family. She faced every hardship with her head held high and never let life’s challenges break her spirit. Her happiest and proudest moments were spent with — or talking about — her grandchildren and her great-grandson. She delighted in simple pleasures: a cold Pepsi, a bag of Cheetos, playing cards, bingo nights, and bowling with friends and family.
She preceded in death by her husband, Lee V. Haggard; her parents, James T. and Faye M. Wood; and her brother, Jonathan Peter Wood.
She leaves behind her son, Floyd Richard Hartley Jr., and daughter-in-law, Tanya Hartley; her daughter, Rebecca Hartley; her grandchildren, Benjamin Hartley, Abigail Hartley, Daniel Rela, and Tobias Rela; and her great-grandson, Niko Rela. She is also survived by her sister, Susan Lane, and brother-in-law, David Lane, and her brother, Randy Wood, and sister-in-law, Amy Wood.
The family invites you to leave a message or memory of Leah in her “Memorial Guestbook” at www.WHBfamily.com
“And when death finds me, I hope it whispers,
‘Come now, the fight is done,’ and takes my hand gently like an old friend
who understands why I’m so tired.
I hope it says, ‘You’ve carried enough, let me hold this weight for you.’
I hope it promises, ‘Here there is quiet. Here you can rest.’”
