Letha Mae Landingham February 20, 1911 - January 17, 2007 Letha Mae Landingham of Waco passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2007 at St. Catherine Center. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, January 19, 2007 at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Gholson with the Rev. Ann Hitt and Chaplain Suzanne Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Gholson Cemetery. Letha was born February 20, 1911 in Abbott. Letha attended Hill Junior College and received her degree from North Texas University in Denton. She began her teaching career at Gholson in 1934, and married Travis Landingham in 1940. Letha has been a lifelong member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church where she was the pianist for over 65 years. While she was teaching she served as a youth leader with the Aldersgate subdistrict from 1953 to 1964. After her retirement in 1976, she substitute-taught in Gholson, Bosqueville and Aquilla until 1996. She was on the board of the McLennan County Retired Teachers Association. She loved people, volunteering and helping others. She truly loved every student that she taught, and showed it in very many ways. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, William Author Harwell and May Belle Harwell, and six brothers and sisters. She is survived by daughter, Norine Baker and husband, Frank of Lorena; and one brother; Alvin Harwell and wife, Marilyn of Abbott, three grandchildren, Kelli Thompson and husband, Richard of Gholson, Ethen Baker of Wisconsin and Lynne Richnow of Waco. Great grandchildren are Lacy and Tracy Richnow and Leah Thompson plus many nieces, nephews and friends. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the first floor staff of St. Catherine Center and Providence Hospice staff, especially Lynnae and Chaplain Smith. Pallbearers are Vance Slough, Stanley Smith, Walton Ballew, Tommy Swanner, Carl Niemeyer and Larry Moran.
