Linda Vickery Burkhart, 80, passed away Sunday, September 28th, 2025, in Waco, at Ascension Providence Hospital.
A life celebration will be held at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home in Waco, Thursday, October 9th, 2025, from 4:30p.m.- 6:30p.m. Linda will be laid to rest at a later date in Jacksonville, Illinois next to her family in the Vickery family plot.
Linda was born December 8th, 1944, in York, PA, to John R. and Margaret H. Vickery. She was married to John W. Burkhart Sr. In 1965, they were married for 23 years. Linda attended Seton Hill University and West Virginia University where she studied English. She always had a flare for organization and office management and had many jobs she loved. She enjoyed talking to every person she ran into and created many lifetime friendships.
She spent many years breeding and showing Brazilian Mastiffs and held positions from president to secretary with the Fila Brasileiro Club of America. Her biggest joy was raising her two boys who were into every sport and activity and spoiling her grandchildren. She was always there and always cheering them on. Linda was raised Catholic and attended Catholic schools growing up.
Linda was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and sisters, Judith Vickery Albright, and Mary Catherine Vickery.
Survivors include two sons, John William Burkhart Jr. and wife, Tracy of Maybank, and Jeremy Nicholas Burkhart and wife, Amanda of Temple. She also had 5 grandchildren, Ryan, Caitlin, Nicholas, Noah, and Madelyn, these were the loves of her life.
