Lisa Clay 63, of Waco, passed away at her home, Saturday, June 7, 2025. Lisa was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She was the heart of her family — a woman whose love, warmth, and generous spirit created a legacy that will live on in every life she touched.
Born to Glenda and Bobby Shirey, Lisa grew up surrounded by strong family ties, which she carried forward throughout her life. She had an unmatched passion for creating beauty in her surroundings, always diving into new home projects that turned spaces into sanctuaries. Her home was filled with warmth, love, and cherished photographs of her children and grandchildren — reminders of what mattered most to her. Lisa found deep joy in giving to others. Whether it was birthdays or Christmas, she made sure no one went without a gift or a reminder that they were loved. Her thoughtfulness and attention to the people she cared about made every celebration more special.
Lisa was preceded in by her father, Bobby Ray Shirey; her mother and stepfather, Glenda Ray Starr Matthews and Kirby Wayne Matthews; and her sister, Donna Lynn Shirey.
Lisa leaves to continue her legacy of love and care for others her loving children, Aleshia Farris-Staton and her husband, Stanford and Christopher Clay. In addition, she is survived by her treasured grandchildren: Justin Farris, Kia Battise and her husband, Christoper and Jalisa Ervin-Franklin. Lisa’s legacy continues through her great-grandchildren: J’Marí Farris, Noland Battise, Brandon Franklin Jr., Jackson Battise, Ja’Liya Franklin, Janelle Farris, and Saylor Farris — each a bright spark of her enduring love. She is also lovingly remembered by her sisters, Marlys Stewart and her husband Richard, Carol Jean Shirey; along with a large and close-knit extended family of nieces, nephews, and friends who meant the world to her.
Lisa’s warmth, creativity, and boundless generosity will be missed every day. Her family takes comfort in the countless memories, laughs, and lessons she leaves behind.
