Margie McCarter Thompson

Margie Johnson McCarter Thompson, age 95, passed away Thursday, September 18, 2025, in Waco. A graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 27, at Bosqueville Cemetery with Pastor Mike Raymond officiating.

Margie was born November 7, 1929, in Bosqueville, Texas. She graduated from Waco High School. After attending Mary Baldwin University in Virginia and University of Texas in Austin, she graduated from Baylor University with a Bachelor of Science degree. She was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority while at University of Texas.

In 1953, she married Jack McCarter, Jr. of Waxahachie and they had three children. Margie was very active as chairman of Chrystal Charity Ball, Maureen Connolly Brinker Tennis Tournament, and Dallas Summer Musicals. She was a wonderful tennis player, and in later years she loved playing golf. She loved the outdoors, gardening, walking, and most of all, traveling. She put her travel knowledge to use as a travel agent.

In 1982, she married William Richard Thompson at Westminster Abbey in London. Together they loved traveling and spending time on the tennis courts and golf courses. They were members of the Boerne Baptist Church.

Margie is survived by her children, Jack McCarter III; Bettie McCarter Boyd and husband, Chris; and Joseph Parnell McCarter and wife, Charlotte; seven grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
