Mary Eleanor Davis Fairfield passed away Saturday, January 22, 2022, at age of 101 years, 7 months and 23 days at Green Oaks Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Arlington, Texas. Graveside services will be at Robinson Cemetery, Friday, January 28, at 2:30 pm. Visitation will be at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home, Friday, January 28, at 11:00 am. Eleanor, as she was known to family, was born in Waco, on May 30, 1920. She attended Robinson Elementary and Waco High School. After graduation she worked in several different positions, sometimes replacing male employees who were away in service of our country. In 1948, while working in the office of Blanton’s Florist, she met and married the love of her life, Robert Kenneth Fairfield, whom she called Bob, a floral designer there. She enjoyed working and held many positions in retail sales throughout her life. She was a lifelong Baptist who enjoyed sewing, gardening with Bob, and cooking for family, being famous for her chocolate pies. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Edward Davis and Josie Carey Davis; sisters, Edith Davis Holzman and Annie Laurie Davis Smith; brother, James W. Davis; brothers-in-law, Dick Holzman and Phillip Smith; husband, Robert K. Fairfield; and son-in-law, Leslie Tacke. Eleanor is survived by her daughters, Mary Joyce Tacke of Meridian, Texas, Roberta Sue (Susie) Stuart and husband, Robert, of Arlington, Texas; grandson, Matthew Robert Stuart and wife, Nicole; great-granddaughter, Sadie Stuart of Aledo; and sister-in-law, Eileen Cruz of Rockport, Texas. She is also survived by four generations of loving nieces and nephews, as well as countless friends who will miss her companionship and sweet smile.
