JOHNSON, MARY ELLEN Mary Ellen Johnson, 83, of Waco died Thursday, August 22, 2002 at her residence. Services will be held at 11am Monday, August 26 at Episcopal Church of The Holy Spirit. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Arrangements are through Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey, 6101 Bosque Blvd. Mrs. Johnson was born in Gordon, Texas to Howard and Margaret Henegar. She graduated from high school in Gordon then attended Texas Womens University. She married James Jimmie Johnson in Fort Worth, November 22, 1940. He preceded her in death in 1970. They moved to Waco in 1942 then moved to Dallas until 1960 then moved back to Waco. She ran the family’s business, The House of Trophies, after her husband’s death. She then retired and sold the business and spent the rest of her life with her family. She served on the board at Salvation Army, member of Altrusa Club, charter member of Friday Forum, cooked for Meals On Wheels, served on the Altar Guild at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and was a member of Baylor Bear Foundation. Survivors include daughters, Nancy and Harlan Williams of Waco and Jean Ann and Stan Mancil of Fort Worth, grandchildren, Tony Mancil and West Williams and wife, Christina, brother-in-law, John L. Brockenbrough of Houston, special friends, Elizabeth Moya, Margie Sanger, Elsie Bauman, Nell King, and Lollie, Shadow, Laurel and Hardy. Pallbearers will be Phillip Cory, West Williams, Tony Mancil, Braxton Brockenbrough, David Wheelis, and Clint Capers. Honorary pallbearers are Tommy Riggs and Dr. John Kosarek. Memorials may be made to Providence Hospice, Episcopal Church of The Holy Spirit, Baylor University, and St. Louis Catholic School.
