Michael David Ficklin, 36, of Fredericksburg, passed away Sunday, December 28, 2025, at University Health in San Antonio after a courageous battle with autoimmune liver cirrhosis. During the month of December, he endured two liver transplants and numerous surgeries with remarkable strength and perseverance. A memorial service will be held at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m., Monday, January 5, 2026, with Pastor Tommy Russell of Fredericksburg Church officiating.
Michael was born February 20, 1989, in Hopewell, Virginia and was raised in Valley Mills, Texas. He, graduated from Valley Mills High School and went on to build a life defined by hard work, service, and loyalty to those he loved. Michael served as Director of Facilities at Boot Ranch in Fredericksburg for the past few years. Prior to that, he spent more than fourteen years at Ridgewood Country Club, where he worked his way up from Security Guard to Director of Facilities, earning the respect and trust of all his colleagues. Michael had the sweetest heart and was known for always taking care of the people he loved. He, enjoyed gaming with his friends, playing golf, and spending time with his daughter, Mia, his fiancée, Marisela, and his beloved dog, Zeus. Michael recently gave his life to the Lord at Fredericksburg Church, where he actively participated in Bible study and was passionate about growing in his faith.
Michael was preceded in death by his mother, Pamela Ficklin; and his father, David Ficklin.
Michael is survived by his fiancée, Marisela Camargo; his daughter, Mia Perez; his mother-in-law, Ruth Gonzalez; his father-in-law, Francisco Gonzalez; his sisters, Patricia Lake and her husband, Christopher, Sheri Collier and her husband, Robert; and Esmeralda Pierce and her husband, Aaron; along with numerous nieces and nephews. He will also lovingly be remembered by his Boot Ranch family and his Ridgewood Country Club family.
Memorials may be made to an educational fund established for his daughter, Mia Perez at First National Bank of Central Texas. Michael was her biggest supporter and was deeply proud of her college education at Texas Tech University.
