Oron Land April 8, 1918 - April 10, 2009 Oron Land of Waco passed away Friday, April 10, 2009, at Providence Hospital. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 14 at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel with the Rev. Greg Way officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, April 13, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Garden Room. He was a member of the Leroy Church. He was very active in the Karem Shrine Temple, a member of the Director's Staff, the Scottish Rite and Blue Lodge of Lohn, Texas. He was a passionate dove hunter and loved woodworking. Oron was born April 8, 1918, in Lohn, Texas to Willie and Oma Land. He worked as a Trooper for the Texas Department of Public Safety for 37 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Monroe and Oma Carroll Land; his wife, Mabel; brothers, Henry, Earnest, Orville, Carroll and Jack Land; sisters, Mae Bissett and Cleo Jackson. He is survived by wife, Elizabeth Land, of Waco; sons, Larry Land and wife, Sue, of Grand Prairie, and John Land of Arlington; a daughter, Denise Clifton and husband, Larry, of Leroy; eleven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
